new recipes for a Sunday feast
Since my Dad and brother came back yesterday from being out of town I decided to make dinner to welcome them home. With all my food magazines lying around I had a lot of choices that I was interested in making. For last night I decided on apricot-glazed pork tenderloin from Everyday Food. That is the 3rd thing I've made from this issue so far, not bad if you ask me. To go with it I had applesauce, a small mixed green salad, and cauliflower and broccoli flan with spinach béchamel (which can be found in the May issue of Bon Appétit). I was a little intimidated at first because one of the trickiest things for me when I'm cooking by myself is working out the timing so that I can prepare and cook multiple things at once. But, because of the greatness of my recipes I was able to pull it off last night. I did have a lot going on at once though, I should have taken a picture of the multiple things on the stove top that I had to keep moving around in order to have space for everything.
First I started cooking the pork as instructed while I melted the apricot mustard mixture into a glaze, then I put on the apricot glaze and returned it to the oven. While that was happening I was also making the spinach with béchamel sauce. Which later got added to the broccoli and cauliflower mixture I had already cooked.
In the end we had this along with the other things I already mentioned:
And of course they tried (and enjoyed) small pieces of chocolate zucchini cake for dessert. It was a good night.
