North Carolina eating

So, there has basically been a feeding frenzy since I got here, and I felt the need to catch up a little. I should just start at the beginning and work my way through the pictures.
On Tuesday we went to GreenLife and we got a pot de creme. It was very rich, but still good for dessert. Look at this cute presentation:

We also got some brie, which I heated with apricot jam and slivered almonds to make a good afternoon snack a la Ritchie and Casey style.

For dinner the first night we had poached tilapia with swiss chard. It was good to have fish again. Hopefully we will make it again some day when we run out of chicken.
On the second night we made london broil seasoned with thyme and orange peel. We served it with mashed potatoes and lemon butter asparagus. I really enjoyed it too, I've never made london broil before, and I thought it was a fast and easy way to prepare meat that still comes out tender and flavorful.

For dessert I made a rhubarb and strawberry pie with crumble topping. It was not as good as the rhubarb crisp, but it still passed the test. I liked the combination of strawberries and rhubarb, but it was a little sugary, I should have looked for a different recipe.

Last night we had chicken and broccoli with bechamel sauce and toasted almonds. That was served with roasted vegetables including red and golden beets, parsnips, and carrots. They were seasoned with olive oil and rosemary. Everything has been quite good so far.

In the interest of going to bed sooner than later, I will wait until tomorrow to write about what we ate today.
