Two dinners and homecoming
Since I just had two lovely breakfasts documented I figured I should balance it out with two dinners. Last night for dinner we went to the Wolfgang Puck Express restaurant. The special of the evening was teriyaki salmon with asian vegetables. Mom and I both decided to get that. It was really nice. The salmon was cooked to perfection, just flaky, not dried out. The sauce was a light glaze, and the vegetables were carrots, broccoli, and multi-colored peppers. I really liked it, and I was happy to have a light dinner. Thus concludes my trip to NC.
Tonight I'm back in Atlanta. We decided to have hamburgers on the grill in order to defy the weather, which was constant sprinkles. I also had some artichokes that I needed to cook, but I'd never cooked artichokes before. I had a recipe, and I've seen artichokes prepared before on the Food Network, but it was still a little daunting. The recipe didn't say anything about how I would know when I got to the heart of the artichoke, so it was a bit of a guessing game. The recipe was easy enough though once I got the chokes peeled and cut up. It consisted of chicken broth, garlic, parsley, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, and three types of shredded cheese. That may sound like a lot of ingredients, but it really was fast to throw it all together and toss it in the oven, and I liked them when they were done, so I must have had the right idea with the peeling after-all. The burger is actually a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and sauteed red onions, it was really good. Oh, and the funny quote of the evening comes from my teenage brother who actually offered to help with food preparation. We said that he could help, so he asked, "Should I get out the condominiums?" Of course he meant condiments, but even after I asked if that was what he meant it took him a moment to figure out what he has asked. I thought it was amusing.
